In addition to my misadventures in Mexico, I attended the Take Our Borders Back trucker rally.
This event was marketed as a way for people to express concerns about the immigration problem. This was not the case.
Moto heads, Christians protestors, and classic republican figures all attended. The stage was complete with a massive cross. I asked the woman working security what the deal was, and she expressed to me that it was a religious worship event. I expected this to be about immigration, instead they spoke about God.
If you’re into overpriced consumerist t shirts, backyard southern barbecue, and hardcore Christian values, this is the spot.
I’ll never understand the purpose of these events. Wasting money on food, apparel, and talking about your problems with strangers doesn’t solve anything. Sure it may make you feel better, but at the end of the day nothing gets done are you’re still in the same spot you were before, and a few hundred dollars poorer.
If we are to make any achievement regarding the border, we need to take action. Take Abbott for example. Look at how bad the crisis was before with the Federal Government cutting the wire. Abbott provided a solution to this problem, not empty words.
If there is any hope for the economy and safety of the US population, other states need to take these types of measures and put the people first.
